Eco Children has a committed and dedicated team of staff who are passionate about conservation and education.

Corné Havenga - CEO 

Corné is an experienced teacher with a great passion for education. Her positive nature is contagious and inspires all to embrace the ethos of Eco Children with great joy and enthusiasm. Her dynamic leadership is sure to encourage the growth and success of the organisation and the realisation of its mission.

Winky Mokgope - Support-a-School Manager

Winky started working for Eco Children in 2009 and has the key role of community liaison, managing the Eco Village gardens, teaching the ecology curriculum at our adopted schools and coordinating the Support-a-School team and has built strong relationships with the communities in which we work. Winky has a natural knack for teaching and has an incredible ability to relate to children and share her passion for the environment with them.  

Rhulani Mathonsi – Support-a-School Assistant

Rhulani attended Eco Children’s Holiday Workshops as a learner back in 2005 and started working for the organisation from 2011.  Her main responsibilities are community liaison, managing Eco Village gardens and teaching ecology curriculum at our adopted schools. Rhulani is known for her fun-loving, caring nature and unique sense of humour. She has an incredible storytelling ability and enjoys working with children.

Queen Manyike – Environmental Educator

Queen started her relationship with the organisation in 2005 when she attended holiday workshops on the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, and in 2012 started volunteering as a trainer at the workshops. She commenced in her current role in 2014 and has a passion for working with children and sharing her knowledge of conservation.

Laura Craig - Financial Administrator

Laura qualified as a bookkeeper and PA when she left school and has been in this field ever since.  Her passion lies in outdoor pursuits and she tries to find a balance between the office and being outside surrounded by nature.

Laura started working for Eco Children at the beginning of 2011 and has enjoyed watching it grow. She believes wholeheartedly in what the organisation is trying to achieve.

Cecilia Theron - Office Administrator

Cecilia joined Eco Children in mid 2015, relocating from Pretoria. She has extensive experience in office management and is looking forward to applying her organisation and project management skills to Eco Children’s benefit.

Carlene Frank – Project Coordinator

Carlene joined Eco Children in early 2016 as a skilled volunteer on a one year assignment through Australian Volunteers International. She has extensive experience in project planning and management of numerous consulting and engineering projects in Australia. She is looking forward to getting out to the local communities and delivering on projects.
